Surfrider John Kelly Awards 2014 Timelapse
Environmental leaders in Hawaii were the focus of this past Saturday’s John Kelly Awards at Waimea Valley. The party, put on by Surfrider, recognizes leaders in the community who make great strides forward to protecting Hawaii’s sensitive land and sea. I put together this minute of timelapse from 1600 photos I shot from a variety perspectives around the venue at different points. People look pretty funny when you speed them up by 24 times! One thing I like about timelapse is that you notice different little things each time you watch it…like the artists finishing up drawings on the surfboard, or the action on the dancefloor which included a human archway dance through that you can pick up on near the end of the dance section. The food was incredible; a fixed menu, but one filled with exquisitely nuanced flavors. It was even good cold…as I had to break away to setup the torch shot during dinner and the awards. So if you missed it, take a minute to party.
